This Contributor Submission Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the submission of stories, written materials, audio files, video files, story summaries, names, biographical details, and any other materials submitted to Stories From (“Stories From,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By submitting a story or related materials, you (“Contributor,” “you,” or “your”) agree to the terms below.

1. Eligibility

You represent that you are at least 18 years old and have legal authority to enter into this Agreement.

If you are submitting on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are the minor’s parent or legal guardian and have authority to grant the rights in this Agreement.

2. Submission Materials

You may submit written stories, audio or video recordings, story summaries, titles, personal information, and related materials through the Stories From submission form (“Submission Materials”).

You understand that submitting materials does not guarantee that your story will be selected, edited, published, promoted, or included in any Stories From book, website, email, social media post, advertisement, or other project.

3. Ownership and Assignment of Rights

By submitting your Submission Materials, you irrevocably assign, transfer, and convey to Stories From all rights, title, and interest in and to the Submission Materials, including all copyrights and related rights, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

This assignment includes the right for Stories From to use, edit, adapt, revise, excerpt, illustrate, publish, reproduce, distribute, sell, license, sublicense, display, perform, promote, advertise, register copyrights in, and otherwise exploit the Submission Materials, in whole or in part, in any format, medium, platform, product, or technology now known or later developed, throughout the world and in perpetuity.

Stories From may register copyrights in its own name for any publication, compilation, derivative work, edited version, illustrated version, or other work containing or based on the Submission Materials.

If, for any reason, any portion of this assignment is determined not to be effective, you grant Stories From an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, and sublicensable license to use the Submission Materials for the purposes described in this Agreement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you waive and agree not to assert any moral rights, approval rights, inspection rights, or similar rights in connection with Stories From’s use of the Submission Materials.

4. Editing, Adaptation, and Creative Control

You understand and agree that Stories From may edit or adapt your Submission Materials for length, clarity, grammar, tone, privacy, legal compliance, design, illustration, marketing, format, and overall fit.

You understand that edited or adapted versions may differ from your original submission and that Stories From has no obligation to seek your approval before making or publishing edits, unless Stories From chooses to do so.

You understand that you will not have approval rights over edits, illustrations, layout, cover design, title, marketing copy, publication timing, pricing, distribution decisions, or any other editorial, creative, business, or production decisions.

5. No Compensation, Royalties, or Revenue Share

You understand and agree that you will not be entitled to royalties, revenue share, licensing fees, reuse fees, residuals, profits, or any other financial compensation if your Submission Materials are submitted, reviewed, selected, edited, published, sold, promoted, licensed, sublicensed, distributed, or otherwise used by Stories From.

The only current contributor rewards are:

• A 10% discount on a future Stories From book order for eligible submitters.
• One free Author Edition copy if your story is selected for publication, subject to Stories From’s fulfillment process.

You understand that these contributor rewards are the full and complete consideration for your submission and any rights granted or assigned under this Agreement.

6. Originality, Permissions, and Privacy

You represent and warrant that:

• You created the Submission Materials or have the full right to submit them.
• Your Submission Materials do not knowingly infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy right, publicity right, confidentiality obligation, employment obligation, school policy, medical privacy obligation, or other legal right.
• Your story is true to the best of your knowledge.
• Your Submission Materials were not generated, drafted, rewritten, substantially edited, embellished, or invented using artificial intelligence tools. You may use ordinary spellcheck, grammar correction, transcription, or speech-to-text tools, provided the substance, voice, and expression of the story remain your own. 
• You have not included identifying details about students, patients, minors, coworkers, family members, or other private individuals without permission.
• You have removed or changed names and identifying details where appropriate to protect privacy.
• You have not submitted confidential, protected, privileged, or legally restricted information, including protected health information, student education records, employment-confidential information, or information subject to a nondisclosure obligation.

For classroom-related stories, you agree not to include protected student information or details that could reasonably identify a student without permission.

For nursing or healthcare-related stories, you agree not to include patient names, dates, facilities, rare medical details, or other information that could reasonably identify a patient.

7. Audio and Video Submissions

If you submit audio or video, you grant and assign to Stories From the same rights described above in the recording, spoken words, transcript, image, voice, likeness, and related materials.

Stories From may use audio or video files for review, transcription, editing, story development, and publication-related purposes.

Stories From will not publicly release audio or video clips featuring your voice, image, or likeness without separate permission, unless the clip has been transformed into written, edited, excerpted, or illustrated story content.

8. Public Credit and Attribution

Your legal name is collected for rights, release, and communication purposes. It will not automatically be used as your public credit.

If your story is selected, you may indicate your preferred public credit, such as first name and state, first name only, anonymous, or contact me before deciding.

Stories From may determine the final form of attribution for consistency, privacy, legal, editorial, or design reasons.

9. Similar Stories

You understand that Stories From may receive, develop, publish, promote, or sell stories that are similar in theme, subject, setting, tone, category, or experience to your Submission Materials.

You waive and release any claim based on the fact that another story, book, campaign, illustration, product, title, theme, or concept is similar to your Submission Materials.

10. Release of Claims

You, on behalf of yourself and your heirs, representatives, successors, and assigns, release Stories From and its owners, employees, contractors, agents, licensees, successors, and assigns from any claims arising out of or related to the Submission Materials, including claims related to review, rejection, editing, publication, non-publication, promotion, attribution, lack of compensation, similarity to other stories, or use of the Submission Materials as permitted by this Agreement. 

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Stories From from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your breach of this Agreement, including claims that your Submission Materials violate another person’s rights or include private, confidential, protected, or unauthorized information.

12. No Employment, Partnership, or Royalty Relationship

Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment, contractor, agency, partnership, joint venture, royalty, fiduciary, or other special relationship between you and Stories From.

13. Contact and Privacy

Stories From may use your contact information to communicate with you about your submission, publication status, contributor rewards, editing questions, and Stories From updates if you opt in.

Stories From will not sell your personal information.

If you provide a phone number, you understand that Stories From may contact you by call or text only if needed about your submission.

14. Electronic Agreement and Signature

By checking the agreement box, typing your legal name, and submitting the form, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Agreement. Your typed name and form submission are intended to serve as your electronic signature.

15. Entire Agreement

This Agreement represents the entire agreement between you and Stories From regarding the Submission Materials and replaces any prior or separate statements, communications, or understandings about the Submission Materials, unless agreed in a separate writing signed by Stories From.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stories From will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, arising out of or related to this Agreement or the Submission Materials. 

17. Governing Law

This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of law principles.
